We will gather to celebrate the hibernation of the Bear. UNACC will be open at 12 PM. Ceremony starts at 1:00 PM. Following the Ceremony, there will be a potluck lunch. Please, bring a dish to share. We will maintain the circle until the Ceremony is over. (with the exception of the pipe ceremony which will be done outside).
We will begin with the formation of the circle. We ask that the circle is maintained throughout the ceremony with the exception of the pipe ceremony.
During the course of the Bear Feast, there will be a reading done to explain why we celebrate the Bear Feast, prayers/tobacco will be offered and songs will be sung. During the offering of the tobacco (prayers) we ask that all are respectful. (participants should be quiet unless they are offering their prayers out loud)
Due to the smoke detectors inside the building, the pipe ceremony will be done outside. Please, remember, that this, too, is a ceremony. We want to be respectful to those offering their prayers during this time. (participants should be quiet unless they are offering their prayers out loud)
After the pipe ceremony and the people who took part in it have rejoined the circle, the food/water offerings will be passed out to the participants. Do not eat/drink them until told to do so, please. We will offer thanks for the food and offer prayers to the Bear for a safe Winter journey.
If you should come in while the ceremony is taking place, we ask that you sit on the outside of the circle and observe the ceremony as to not break the circle.
Come join us to celebrate the hibernation of the Bear. Ladies, please bring/wear a skirt. (or bring a blanket to cover your legs)
If you should have any questions concerning the Bear Feast, please feel free to ask. Education is the key to continuing our Native ways
