Finger Weaving Class by Pam Levesque.  Sunday, April 13, 2014 at 2:00 PM.  Cost of class is $2 p/p or $5 for family (3 or more)

Please, purchase 1 of 2 choices of yarn: Cotton OR 4-ply acrylic  (Sugar ‘n Cream is one type of the cotton yarn)

3 or 4 solid skeins of contrasting colors but do not purchase a variegated yarn (many colors together)

Pam prefers the cotton yarn for finger weaving because it is a natural fiber and cooler during the summer, although the colors are not as bright as with the acrylic yarn.

6″ or longer piece of 1/4″ diameter wood dowel. A bamboo knitting needle or artist’s paint brush will be sufficient.

Scissors

1″ or larger safety pin

Small pillow to attach the project to for resistance to make the braiding easier or you can tie the project to the back of a chair

***The yardstick is not needed at the class as Pam will use chalk on the table for

measuring and cutting the yarn although a yardstick will be handy to measure at home.

At the class, we will start the project from scratch.

DO NOT cut your yarn ahead at home

of time or you may not have enough to start a sash.

This class will show you how to finger weave a sash with the basic diagonal design that some of you have seen me work on. You can think ahead which colors you’d like side-by-side in your sash or whether you will just let the colors fall randomly.
